These are 5 excellent questions Sue and somewhat reminiscent of the questions at the end of the Jones letter to BTB:
1) Hauptmann denied his guilt right up to the moment he died.
a. Maybe BRH was quity of something he did not want to reveal?
b. Maybe BRH was a german spy or agent?
c. Maybe Bruno feared for the safety of Manfred and Anna
d. Maybe Bruno was a stubborn German?
2) Most of the ransom money was never recovered.
No thanks to Colonel Norman Scvarztenkopf! As soon as BRH was captured then storming norman told all banks to cease and desist from sending any more ransom notes--just burn them? Appaently one Lone Gunman was enough?
3) Violet Sharpe, a maid in the house of Mrs. Lindbergh's mother,
committed suicide after police wanted to question her about the case.
We still cant find any plausible reason why Violet was murdered, either by her own hand, or the hand of the Next Day servants?
She was very upset when Charlie Jrs corpse was discovered on Mt Rose Hill? But she really lost it over Ernie Brinkerts id==a person she supposedly never even met? Violet lied about lots of details on the Sunday before and theTuesday nite of the snatch.
Ernie Brinkert also lied about going to Bridgeport CT...the launching site for CAL and Breck and Condon AND IREYs search for Charlie Jr. after St. Raymonds. Edna lied too and then left towne for UK. Essentially they all lied at Next Day Hill?
4) The Lindbergh baby's body was so badly decomposed that positive
identity was virtually impossible.
TRUE! Dr. Charles H. Mitchell gave serous doubt to the Betty Gow Identification....most of the body was missing especially the hands.....no fingerprints? A perfectly round hole behind the right ear causies us all to reflect on a small caliber bullet wound. It doesnt add up, nor does the blue=theaded t shirt?
5) Governor Harold Hoffman was convinced that the case had not been solved.
Hoffman assembled a crack team of investigators to include Ellis Parker/ dR.Erastus Hudson/ Robert W. Hicks/ and dozens more. Maybe thier primary motivation was that BRH was railroaded to the electric chair on trumped up evidence/ BUt at the very least also suspected one or more ACCOMPLICES. Ellis Parker concluded that with Death House Rielly on the take from Hearst News that BRH never had a chinamans chance?
The most frustrating part of the re-investigation is that none ever stated clearly and categorically WHO they thought did the LKC. This alone continues to plaque the resolution of the case. If not BRH then who? If they suspected the Purple Gang or CAL and a hoax they never said so?
