"Hauptmann Ransom Notes were Forgeries" The Lethbridge Herald April 4th 1977
Clearwater FLA.....a handwriting expert has charged that ransom notes useds to convict BRH had been "overwritten" with changes that amounted to forgery.
Hilda Braunlich, now 79, from Bavaria was allowed to examine the notes on Jan 12, 1935.
She was speaking out in 1977 due to publishing of Scadutos Scapegoat/ which she said was courageous and correct--BRH was innocent.
Braunlich said when she told Rielly what she proposed to testify the following morning he said "You are not going to do that! So tell people you are sick and leave immediately."
"Reilly did not want the truth to come out? "When I looked at the notes with a powerful magnifiing glass a different blend or hue of ink had been used to overwrite". "One of the X's had been patched in and worked over too"
One other handwriting expert/ CF Goodspeed of Brooklyn was also discouraged from testifying.
