Here is a link to an idea on Michaels Board, and I find it pretty interesting: lindberghkidnap.proboards56.com/index.cgi?board=michael&action=display&thread=1143390682&page=1It raises the issue of a small secret note from "Mother" found in the NY American on March 11th: GALWAY & HEANEY call 236 E. 30th st. for my address. Mother. In answer to Rosners note on March 7th: Letter received at new address. Will follow your instructions. I also received letter mailed to me March 4, and was ready since then. Please hurray on account of mother. Address me to the address you mention in your letter. Father. If rosner/CAL is father -- then is Anne = Mother?

We also need to take a careful peek at the last note from St. Raymonds--word by word:
the boy is on boad (road?) Nelly(Molly?) It is a small boad (road) 28 feet long Two persons are on the boad (road) they are innocent You will find the boad (road) between Horseneck Beach and Gay Head on Elizabeth Island
Note: Charlie was found on a small road, not boad? Why repeat the word "boad" 4 times. Is there other code words here?

Why repeat the word "boad" 4 times. Is there other code words here? Rick, Why you think the word could be "road"? I only wonder because Charlie wasn't found anywhere near Elisabeth Island (sp?). And what about the 2 innocent people? Why would they be mentioned if they were talking about Hopewell? I am looking at a copy of the actual note and there are some corrections to what you have for the note. "Boad" is capitalized each time it is used and it is "near" Elisabeth Island (sp?), not "on" (which would make more sense if they were actually talking about a boat - it would be near an island, not on it.) Another thing, I'm not sure if it's a complete copy or not, but I just now realized that most people spell the name "Elisabeth" with a "z". I'm not sure if the word is actually spelled that way in the note or if the copy cut off the bottom of the "z". If it was actually spelled with an "s", could it have been some kind of coded reference to Anne's sister? (Good Lord, y'all have me looking at that kind of thing now!! LOL)

Amos--someone thought at one time that at first the word was Road....but then as an afterthought connected up the bottom rungs to make the word: Road>>Boad? The word Boad is a very poor red herring. Remember the famous movie Das Boot? NOT Das Boad?
"Boad"? its just a possiblity? Why make a whole bunch of false references to Marthas Vineyard? Just as a mean joke? I was thinking that the Truth might be hidden in the note for the reader to figure out? eg CAL and JFC?
Charlie was found "between" two small creeks or streams at the Vee of a small "island" ; between two roads, and yes I did think about Annes sister Elizabeth......since Bern blamed her for Charlies death?

Charlie was found "between" two small creeks or streams at the Vee of a small "island" ; between two roads, and yes I did think about Annes sister Elizabeth......since Bern blamed her for Charlies death? I'd not heard anything about creeks or a road where the body was found - I was always lead to believe that it was found off of a road, in the woods. Of course, I have a feeling that most of the roads around there back then were what we would consider small roads today. I had always assumed that the word "boad" was not an attempt to make it look like the German word for boat, but rather a misspelling of a poorly pronounced English word "boat". I would like to hear a German accented person pronounce the English word "boat". Also, Anne's sister's name is spelled with an "s" as is the name of the island in the note. Why they were directed up into New England is beyond my ken, that's for sure! I have an aerial view of Highfields, taken by the State Police just after the kidnapping (my husband's grandfather was a Trooper back then and was supposedly involved in a peripheral way). I wish I had a way of finding out what the distances are in the shot (it's farther away than most of the ones you find in the books). Wouldn't it be ironic if it encompassed the area where the body was found?

Amous/ heres a link to the Last actual note on the LIndy board: ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/LindyKidnap/photos/view/9d51?b=2i cant be certain .....but the Elisabeth looks like an "s" Can you see the contrived connections at the bottom of the Bs? Smoe look like add-ons? Also, most of the small "o"s look like "v"s to me? Yes, 75 feet (not far) off Hopewell Princeton road in the woods, but sort of on an "island" between two creeks? the dirt road to the west of the body was where Shippels shack was sposed to be in 1932. I talked to someone that moved to that dirt road on 2 March 1932 and went to school with Shippels daughter.

Amous/ heres a link to the Last actual note on the LIndy board: I'm not a member, so I can't view pics there, but I have a copy in Waller's book. Very few of any of the "o"s are closed at the top in any of the words. Just poor penmanship, I would say. And it looks to me like the bottom of the "B" is gone back over - that's how I make mine, too. Not to be contrary, but how could anything in that note lead them to that spot in Hopewell? It seems like such a stretch to me, IMHO.

Two different people wrote the note starting line five word (between) to the end of the note. Different angle of hand, different pressure n and m have peaks e shift right and s curls tight

Well, if it doesnt, then its just poppythingy....but it does provide a brief glimpse inside the writers mind. Why this obcession with boats? How about the given knowledge about Marthas Vineyard? Gay Head is acrossed the Bay from Horsehead Point on the mainland implying 1st hand being out there? Like a sailor, like Red or Dwight Jr. Its quite specific.
I always imagined that Road Nelly could have been Aunt Molly Road in Hopewell. Its only a slight stretch. Its parallel to Hopewell-Princeton Road and nearto Mt. Rose Hill.
lastly, it has been conjectured that "B 0 ad" is code for 30th street? Did the perp mean to tell the location of Charlie and then chicken out? Its just one mystery for now.

Like a sailor, like Red or Dwight Jr. Its quite specific. OK, purely speculation here (because I really don't think he had anything to do with it, but I could always be wrong) - CAL spent much time in the air up and down the East coast (from NJ to ME, if for no other reason) and would probably be very familiar with that area, but for different reasons than boating! (Although, bear in mind where his honeymoon took place - on the water!). And "specific" was almost his middle name! <grin> Raises all kinds of questions, eh?

Anon// I totally agree....Im somewhat baffled? How many candidtes are there for "first hand" knowledege of sea ports in or around Elizabeth Islands Mass......I dont know why anyone at all thought BRH knew this stuff? Im sure it would be clever to send CAL and JFC on a wild goose chase but what for to MA? I was trying to determine how close this location was to North Haven ME? Where Charlie, Betty and Betty Morrow spent last summer.?
Also, I havent given up on this note actually being "coded" to the site in Hopewell......no matter how farfetched! Example to follow:
1. The boy is on a road with a womans name (Aunt Molly) 2. The road is long and narrow 3. the boy is between.....Hopewill and Rocky Hill Road. 4. after that the logic peters out a bit............
Always keeping in mind that CAL wants a body back! To end the searching. And why the meaningless line about two inosent?

I was trying to determine how close this location was to North Haven ME? Where Charlie, Betty and Betty Morrow spent last summer.? I'd say Martha's Vineyard is approximately halfway between NJ and ME, as the crow flies. Camden, ME is a favourite place of mine and North Haven is just off the coast of Camden. It's about a 10 hour drive to Camden (counting pit stops) at today's speeds, so not sure how long it would have taken to drive in the 30s. Definitely no clue as to how long it would take to fly or sail there.

The two Innocent may have been in the code for the two truck drivers, and how would they know that unless part of the game?

Rita/ only two parties served to gain or benefit directly from the Body Dump in Mt. Rose Hill:
1. bootleggers and rumrunners--their operations had been harrassed and curtailed for 72 days due to the unsuccessful search for the lIndbergh Babe. They badly needed to get back into Business.
2. CAL, Morrow and Lindbergh familes--extortion plots and hairbrained schemes would go on forever with out the finding of Charlie or facsilmile.
3. BUT--clearly and obviously, the snatchers or killers had literally NO interest in any body being found--ever and forever--no body, no murder. Nada, zero, szip. =0! So you can be certain whomever killed Charlie did not dump Charlie? Except for...well....
So who dumps Charlie....1) above 2) above or; 3) not a chance

No.1 is a good bet, and makes me wonder how New Jersey detective were taught back then? They must not had blackboards in their training, as their prime suspect had none of the connections that could have included him as a suspect. In fact Hauptmann was so remote from the crime Simone had to dump a box of marked money on him to connect him. He was responsible family man living in a huge city that at best took an hour traffic to leave. Even the ladder being built in NY implies setup, and why would Condon volunteer as a go between knowing the ladder as his friend Samuelson's job. The whole kidnap story seems as if perpetrated by a group of drinking buddies protecting each others backs.
