Examining the Nursery Note closely I found there were faint objects like (as), and below that I found a faint outline of a 50 centime South American Air Mail stamp. If these characters are in the original document then this would mean there is a connection to South America and the sighting of Fish and Charley in South America

Lower right side of nursery note has a set of letters and numbers that give a short wave communication frequency. The series (amL3-holl), and refers to short wave am band L3 withe the colored circle having a pie slice that can mathematical give the frequency for lindbergh to communicate. If Lindbergh communicated with someone by short wave that would explain the delay in regular communication throughout the case. The band described is frequently used by South American and U.S States.

Hi Rita/ good sleuthing! Im absolutely certain that the tale about Fisch and the mink boxes in Phoenixville Pa and the sighting of Fisch and baby in South America is in Murder of Justice by Wayne Jones. Near the back of the book. Jones also got a lead that Charlie Jr. was a patient at Johns Hopkins University Hospital and that Betty Gow inferred that Charlie was deaf and dumb? It all begins to addup/

Hi Rick I think it is a strong possibility. I need to look at the original ransom notes to see that it is not an effect of being copied. Did you look at the originals and notice the smudge type marks similar to what is on the copies?

Rick,
Can you remember where you read about the "inference" made by Bettty about Charlie being a deaf mute? I've read many more things that indicated that he wasn't - calling for Betty (which bothered Anne), calling CAL "Hi" (which would indicate that he'd heard the word and was repeating it). This would be interesting to know about, especially with CAL's leanings towards perfection!
Oh, and welcome home! How was the last leg of your cruise?

hi Minnie/ Last chapter of Murder of Justice by Wayne Jones wherein he heard from a relative or nurse or aunt in Phoenixville Pa who knew Betty Gow and passed on the information to him?
I think it included Charlie being interned at Johns Hopkins Unive. Hospital as well, or so I recall.
Missed International flight from oslo to newark nj and had to stay over one more day to get back home late and miss flight from ohare to madison by 5 min/ then took bus and got back 2am Wed morning...total elapzed travel time 50 hours/ yikes its a miracle we got back at all/ lightening really causes flights to be cancelled.

So, basically it's not really documented anywhere - just "hearsay"? And wow - Phoenixville, PA! This case just keeps expanding and expanding. Phoenixville trivia (totally unrelated to the LKC) - there's a great little theater there where the 50s movie The Blob was filmed. They're in the process of refurbishing it and it's really coming out nicely. There are pictures from the film and newspaper clippings hanging on the walls in the lobby. Really neat! Yikes is right!!!! So - you were stuck in Newark??? Double yikes!!!! ;) Sounds like a convoluted route to get to where? ? And yes - lightning does keep more than the space shuttle on the ground! And God knows, we've had our share here in NJ in the past couple of weeks.

Hi Mouse, Rick Did Bette live there or just have an acquaintance there? I seen the Blob several times and is a classic low budget movie.

Well, I think a nurse related to Jones lived in Phoenixville and was told directly by Gow? CAL and Anne always parroted "he is perfect"? Doth they protest too much?
Nevertheless, rumors abound about Charlie Jr. health problems and they are mostly supported by circumstantial evidence--The Gold Standard in the LKC!
Dr. VanIngen dodged the identification of the blackened corpse on Mt. Rose Hill Road, likely to avoid testifying under oath about Charlies health problems. Not for one million dollars he said. VanIngen was quoted as saying that Charlie had a square head and advanced rickets? He needed lots of extra vitamins daily? And the myterious sunlamp. I fell asleep under a sunlamp as a kid and Charlie Jr. might have done the same? No proof except the blackened skeleton? Charlie could have been toast?
We all pounded the illness angel literally to death on MMs Olde Board before it mysteriously went "belly up". Speculation included congenital ilnesses gained during long flights of fancy during pregnancy of Anne all the ways to hydroencephalus?
Now that all evidence from the Archives subject to genetic testing has been sumarily removed we will likely never know. but if we ever need to account for Charlies Health during the kidnap(?) there is plenty of smoke sadly without any proof/
No photos for one year also muddies the waters.

The NJSP seems to have destroyed all valid evidence to prove their case against Hauptman. Of course we know how that is done just examine the Skakel Case and it also wreaks from evidence destruction to protect a favorite son. By the way were Skakels around at the time of the Lindbergh Kidnap?
