I guess so far we have no solid candidates for the Mystery woman who enteres Samuelsohns shoppe with BRH:
about 24, brunette, well dressed, nice hat, sealskin coat, looks American....Violet or Edna Sharpe; Betty Gow?
2. How about the fancy dressed woman about 42 years olde who tries to spend a Gold Cert in Connecticutt at a bakery:
the key to this womans identity is her Green sedan driven by a Chauffeur! Now, how many middle aged socialites have ransom money and know to grab it out of the bakery clerks hand and drive away within mere weeks after the ransom payment? Why wasnt this woman ever id-ed or located....along with many other similar leads dropped like hot potatoes?
Who's your daddy?

Yes, I'm intrigued with the mystery woman, too. Do you think Baker's wife was too old to fit the description? I read that she disappeared suddenly and was never heard from again. Guess I have to say the bigger question for me is if that was actually BRH ordering all that "too much" wood (for a ladder). Can't help bu t have some questions about the AS thing. The other woman grabbing the gold cert back is of interest to me, as well. The thought that CAL set up the kidnapping and all that went with it sounds not only pro-found-ly complicated, but also bizarre, to me, anyway. If he chose to get rid of the baby surely there would have been simpler ways. He had some "peculiar' doctor friends who could have set up a "died of pneumonia" scenario or something similar, don't you think? To be as PrivacyFixated as he seems to have been, why set up something which would very certainly swamp him with intractable publicity, trouble, meddling, stalking, etc, etc? Something else which puzzles the life out of me is Fisch ( or look alike) who showed up in Breck's office and the odd thing he was quoted as saying!!. Please someone, speak some thoughts about that.

Hi Mairi/ well its all a question of how many times we have all been had? If Abe Samuelsohn was a red herring or back-up to convict BRH in 1932 without ever testifying, well he is still a red herring today. if Jafsie Condon was paid to lead everyone away from the Truth then what better way than to make his own self look guilty as hell when he wasnt. Times never change. I dont relish the thought of waiting 2 years to see if Fisch and Schleser picked up the ladder wood? But if it was say....Duane Baker who picked up the wood, then maybe his wife, who fled with him presumeably, with the rent reciepts is a candydate for BRHs presumed date with ASs shoppe? I get Liepold and Baker confused at times? then again it could be Myra and Ralph Hacker...JFCs kids? Fisch entering Breckenridges office sure smacks of yet another misleading wild goose chase too; eg redd herring. What possible purpose could that serve? No matter what the conversation, it does not aquit or convict anybody of anyding? Just an another odd tale thrown into the Soup of obfuscation, smoke and mirrors/

Thanx, Rick~ I found your comments (MM's Board and this one) about Condon quite interesting and was especially taken with your observation that no author had ever made a case against JFC. He surely is in the middle of most everything. The deal he made about taking a "deception test if......" was certainly a Safe bargain to make, wasn't it?!!?? I posed this before and hope no one minds if I bring it up again---other than writing his book, does anyone know or can point me to a source as to JFC's activities post- BRH's execution? Am especially wondering if he continued to take mysterious trips? I also wonder if he and CAL ever met up again? Or he and police and/or FBI? Just as a guess, I'd think the authorities would think they'd best keep an eye on him. Didn't he live about 9 more years after the case was finished?

Hi Mairi/ well in the first place nearly everyone involved in this mess, with the exception of Anna, wanted this Case Closed Forever ASAP mainly to cut thier losses.
CAL spent time convincing Anne of BRHs quilt? Anne was not the strongest of women....handpicked by a Control Freak as is SOP.
This is all so reminescent of the Kennedy assasination..One Man, Lone Wolfe, Lone Gunman. No loose ends. Nice and tidy. Life is seldom if ever this way. A Nation of Sheep. It took 115 years to disclose the Abe Lincoln's Assasination conspirators from a diary.
The Keystone Cops had blown the case so many times. Mostly due to Institutional infighting. NJ vs NY vs. BOI vs Ellis Parker. Petty jealosies prevented good crimework.
I would imagine a good book might be Behold the Dreamer by Fulton Oursler? Afterall, Condon took him over to Abes shoppe and Oursler bought a couple of pieces of the putitive ladder wood?
It would be fascinating to know for certain that the co-conspirator or accomplice to be named by Gov. Hoffman was none other than Dr. Jafsie Condon? Hoffman interviewed Abe Samuelsohn but we dont know what exactly AS said about Condon now do we?

Two more mystery woman for the books:
" Maybe the AbeS/BRH woman and this one are one and the same/ BUT Mrs Hermanns reference to John F. Condon is stunning!
Here is a description of the chauffured woman who tried to drop a LKC Gold Cert at the bakery in Greenwich, CT:
"Woman was white. Age 42. Five'6" tall. Good Looking. Dark complexion. wore string of green sivler beads, gray frlt hat, gray tweed coat and brown dress."
Note: all women in 1932 are 5'6"?

Thanx for the GREAT posts, Rick! Ever so informative-and good to think about. That really is something about Fisch's landlady!! The state of Conn keeps coming up, huh?! And that being from whence the sleeping suit was mailed! Rather seems to put Fisch back in the running, me thinks. It amazes me that all those live Fischs were imported over for what(?) character witnesses for their relative, the dead Fisch??? And the woman who said Fisch wrote the ransom notes. I thought sure I had seen (somewhere??) a sample of his handwriting. I saw the Pie company letterhead and the top part appeared to have been written by someone left handed-a backward slant, anyway. You just might be closing in on Condon, Rick!

Well, we dont have any solid evidence on Fisch being any more than a Professional Con and a money laundering specialist....so maybe others picked up the ladder wood?
Also, we should keep an open mind about Fisch and women friends. Although he was rumored to have another woman friend in the Bronx, his companion in Connecticut could be Harry Uhlig again?
It could easily be others of BRHs associates that axed him to go over to ASs shoppe and order some wood for them? Nice buddies huh? And we still cant find any link between BRH and Fisch until summer of 1932 althought there should be one? BUT, why do that, unless the pickup artists were also doing the Mastermind another favor? Or the Go-between for the Mastermind? Whos your Daddy?
